2007 USAG Team Season Review Eastern National Qualifier Maureen Grady also performed very well, with an 11th Place All-Around finish out of the 49 qualifiers in her age division. Alina Weinstein (Level 10) attended National Championships,
but due to illness was unable to compete all events. Regional Championships include the highest-scoring competitors from each of the State Championships in Region 7, which includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia & Washington, DC. Regional Championships are also the qualifiying meet for Level 10 National Championships and Level 9 Eastern National Championships. Arena's Alina Weinstein (pictured, in pink) had a wonderful performance at Level 10 Regional Championships, finishing 1st All-Around (37.725), 1st on Bars and Floor, 2nd on Beam and 5th on Vault, and qualified for National Championships. Graduating Senior Melissa Cream finished 4th on Beam, 8th on Vault and was an alternate qualifier to Nationals. Also at Level 10 Regionals, Lane Jarred placed 1st on Beam and 6th on Bars, and Marisa Liptak placed 3rd on Floor and 7th on Vault. At Level 9 Regional Championships Gabrielle Swain placed 2nd All-Around (37.425)and 1st on Bars, 3rd on Vault, and 7th on Beam, and qualifed for E. Nationals. Maureen Grady also competed very well, finishing 1st on Bars and 5th AA with a 36.775, 8th on Vault and 10th on Floor, to qualifiy to Eastern Nationals. Jess Macay placed 3rd on Beam and qualified as an alternate to Eastern Nationals, and Kaleigh McLaughlin placed 6th on Bars. At Level 8 Regional Championships, Shannon Martin won Vault and All-Around, was 2nd on Floor, 4th on Bars, and 7th on Beam; and Samanth Hering was 6th All-Around, 7th on Beam and 9th on Floor and Bars. Angel W. also placed 9th on vault. Arena's Level 6 Boys did great at Regionals, with Nate Kaufman, finishing first All-Around, on Pommel Horse, and Rings' and Eugene B finishing first on Floor.
New Jersey State Championships Arena's Team had many of State Champs this year!
At the Level 10 State Championships, Alina finished 1st on Beam, 3rd on Bars and All-Around; Lane finished 1st on Beam, 3rd on Floor and All-Around; and Marisa Liptak finished 2nd on Floor and 3rd on Beam. As a team, Arena's Level 10 team, which also included Melissa Cream, Brooke Grohol, Tiara Land and Nicole Schwartz, won 3rd Place Team and each team member qualified to Regionals, a remarkable accomplishment, since 5 of the 7 team members were first-year Level 10 competitors. At the Level 9 State Championships, in a remarkable performance for a first-year Level 9 gymnast, Gabrielle Swain finished 1st on vault, 2nd on Bars, and 3rd All-Around with a 37.05. Maureen Grady won 2nd All-Around, 2nd on Floor and 3rd on Beam; and Kaliegh McLaughlin won 3rd place on Beam. At Level 8 States, Shannon Martin won the title of Level 8 All-Around and Vault Champion and was 2nd on Beam and 3rd on Vault. In addition several other gymnasts from the Level 8 Team placed in the top 3, including: Ellyna P., who was 2nd on Floor; Angel W. who was 2nd on Bars and 3rd All-Around, and Samantha Hering who was 2nd on Bars and Floor. Earlier in the season, at the Level 7 State Championship, Ellyna P. was 1st on Beam and 4th All-Around and on Floor, Casey Sabino won 2nd Place on Vault, and Samantha L. was 4th on Bars, 6th All-Around, 6th on Beam and 7th on floor. Finishing in the top 10 at Level 5 States: Kristin H. won 2nd on vault, 5th on floor and 4th All-Around; Jordan R. won 2nd place beam, 6th on floor and 9th All-Around; Christina Hayduchock won 8th on vault; and Briana R. won 8th on floor. The Boys Team did great at State Championships! Nate Kaufman was 1st on Parallel Bars, 2nd on Vault and High Bar, and 3rd All-Around, Eugene B was 3rd on Pommell Horse and High Bar, and Camden P. scored a 9.5 on vault to take 5th. Great job to all our competitors this season, we are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to 2007-2008! |
